The Life Cycle of a Phenomenon is often characterized by distinct phases.

Movement founders promise a fresh beginning, hope for a future, love, redemption within a community united in belief in the method.

What did it represent at first? Just men on a balcony basking in glory. Body art. Muscles. Focus. Elite male wellness energy. Admittedly, England’s players often say it’s not a real term, amusingly since it’s not recognized, what was that spectacle?

Yet it’s clear what it is. It’s the player executing a stroke so depraved it has to be pixelated. It’s the adrenaline of the leader in ultimate mode, an expression conveying: thoughtful warrior, rugged appearance, natural look, genuinely raw you half-expect to glance over and find him positioned in the field bare-chested embracing nature.

It’s the batsman often seen addressing the media, appearing as a happy little woodland creature in a waistcoat, saying stuff like we’re challenging norms. Certainly, the atmosphere, for quite a long time, was uplifting.

3. The Growth Phase

Building period. Cohesion maintained via memorization of mantras. These principles can appear contradictory as a test of “true belief”.

Does anyone else feel? The backlash, the anger, the sense of betrayal following the initial loss feels overblown, too much. The batting collapsed on the field, as is typical there. Meanwhile, there is the broader context of the host’s complex more culturally hard-wired exasperation towards the unconventional visitors, claiming, the methods you value and have fostered and nurtured to distinguish yourselves from others, well, it’s all a bit of a gag ultimately.

And this is the real point. All movements are similar. The style was a trend as the game has its own culture. In fact, the team has long been exclusive, a circle, an elite gathering, an insular community with a long history of opaque and ritualistic cult history supporting it. Historically, this was a place where power and access are hoarded. It’s the imperial sport of the British, the original sports washers. And notably, the country is a phenomenon, a series of esoteric hierarchies, a monarchy still exists.

The team have been sealed up in this system for years. Seeking change, to create a less brutal environment, they are mirroring their past, forming a new circle, a closed circle, however with a new team and a coach who wants you to be yourself as long as yourself is quite a lot like myself.
